Belle and Sebastian’s Stuart Murdoch Takes on Sundance

Some of the best news out of Sundance wasn’t even about a movie — it was word that Belle and Sebastian are at work on a new album, their first in four years. Frontman Stuart Murdoch was in town behind his directorial debut, the musical¬†God Help The Girl, and the band came together for a live show to celebrate.

He spoke with Anne Litt and Chris Douridas about the film, which is an ode to Glasgow and its music scene.

Nick Cave spoke to KCRW about the film 20,000 Days on Earth, a fictionalized account of a day in his life which premiered at Sundance. Directors Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard set up situations to create real moments — including two days of Nick talking to a psychoanalyst, showing him old photos to stir memories and putting him into a car with mystery guests that included former bandmates and Kylie Minogue.
