Some of the best news out of Sundance wasn’t even about a movie — it was word that Belle and Sebastian are at work on a new album, their first in four years. Frontman Stuart Murdoch was in town behind his directorial debut, the musical God Help The Girl, and the band came together for a live show to celebrate.
He spoke with Anne Litt and Chris Douridas about the film, which is an ode to Glasgow and its music scene.

KCRW is at the Sundance Film Festival to host a series of music showcases and live broadcasts, as well as Happy Hour DJ sets.
If you’re in sunny LA, you can tune in to hear Anne Litt’s show (noon to 3pm on Sat and Sun) live from the KCRW Studio at the Acura Prism in Park City for music programming inspired by the 200 films featured at the festival, as well as interviews with actors, directors, and musicians with ties to the featured films.
Jason Bentley will host Morning Becomes Eclectic live (9am to noon PT) from our snowy outpost on Monday, January 20.
On the ground, our nighttime showcases (Fri-Sun, 9:30pm to 12a) will feature Sondre Lerche, Wild Cub, Dan Deacon, The Fela! Band and Carmen Rizzo.
Jason Bentley and Anne Litt grab Abigail Spencer for a quick chat at Sundance about how she uses music to help her develop her characters. She’s appearing in a new series on Sundance Channel called Rectify.
Here are a few snapshots from yesterday as the KCRW team was getting settled into the festival in Park City, UT. Jason and Anne kicked it with Sundance Director John Cooper and Sundance Programming Director Trevor Groth, and then got their ‘home away from home’ studio set up at the Sundance Music Cafe! Also, a nice photo op outside with some Acura signage so you know where to find them!
If you’re in Park City, stop on by and say Hello!
